CARINGOLA RESIDENCE

Returning to Pittsburgh after several years in North Carolina, our clients wanted a large house to accommodate a growing family and to entertain friends. They were very interested in the typology of barns and the design both reflects and adapts this aesthetic. Energy efficiency was also a major concern so insulated concrete forms were used for the basement and tower walls and structural insulated panels on a timber frame for the upper floors. There is a radiant floor on the basement level and a highly efficient heat pump system throughout the house.
